To configure your Internet Explorer for optimum use with Paragon MLS please follow the following steps. Please read the directions carefully in order to prevent applying incorrectly configured settings to your Internet Browser.

You will need to have administrative access to the computer to perform these functions. If you do not have Administrative access to the computer please see your office administrator about proper office procedures in dealing with Information Technology Issue.

Access the Control Panel and Internet Options

Close all Internet Explorer Windows. This will allow Internet Explorer to make all the changes without any interference from currently opened files.

Open the Control Panel by selecting the Start Button, and then left click on Control Panel. In some Operating Systems, it is necessary to select Settings, and then select Control Panel.

If you see 10 Category’s then select Network and Internet Connections. You will then be asked to Pick a Task. At the bottom of this page you will see another section called Pick a Control Panel Icon. Select Internet Options from the menu.

Now that Internet Options is opened please go to Step 1 – The General Tab.

If you see 36 different icons, also known as the Classic View then you will need to locate an icon labeled Internet Options. Once you have found it, double click on it and proceed to Step 1 – General Tab.

Step 1 – The General Tab

Check at the top of the window to insure you are on the General Tab. Now select the Delete Cookies button. When the small message box appears, select the OK button. This may take a little while to complete, so wait for the hourglass to change back into your mouse pointer.

Next, select the Delete Files button. Another message box will appear. Place a check in the box labeled Delete all off line content by left clicking in the box. Once this is done, left click on the OK button. This window will disappear. Wait for your mouse to turn from an hourglass back into your mouse pointer. This can take several minutes to complete.

Click on the settings button and another window will appear.

At the top of this new window is a set of options. Select the Every visit to the page option by left clicking in the circle to the left of the option.

Towards the bottom of the window you will find an area to set the Amount of disk space to use. We recommend setting this between 300-500.

You many now click OK and this window will close returning to the previous window.

Step 2 – The Security Tab

Go back to the top of the window and select the Security tab across the top.

Towards the top there is a series of icons. One of the icons is a green circle with a white check mark labeled Trusted Sites. Left click on this icon.

At the bottom of the window, you should see a button labeled Default Level. Left click on this button. When you do so it should grey out and the security setting should now read as LOW.

Straight up from the Default Level button you wil find a button marked Sites. Left click on this button.

At the bottom of this box you should see a box labeled Require server verification. If this box is checked then uncheck the box by left clicking on it.

Towards the top there is a text box. Type in *.fnismls.com and select Add. If you use Rexplorer you can also add *.rexplorer.net. Once this is done click OK. When you do, you should see it added to the larger box just below the one you typed in.

Step 3 – The Privacy Tab

Go back to the top of the window and select the Privacy tab across the top

Three quarters of the way down the page you will find a group of buttons. The last one is labeled as Default. Left click on this button. When you do it will grey out and the setting will read Medium.

The section below should be for your Pop Up Blocker settings. If it is not, please skip to the next section.

If the check box next to Block pop-ups is not check please check it at this time. Don’t worry, if you want it unchecked you can uncheck it when we are finished here. We will even remind you.

Once you have checked the Block pop-up box select the Settings button.

At the top there is a text box. Type in *.fnismls.com. If you use Rexplorer you can also add *.rexplorer.net. Once this is done click the Add button. When you do you should see it added to the larger box just below the one you typed in.

Now select the Close button at the bottom of the window. This will return you to the Internet Properties Page

 DON'T FORGET!!!
If you want your Internet Explorer Pop-up blocker turned off, or had it unchecked, now is the time to uncheck that box again. However, you can leave it checked and it will not prevent Paragon from working correctly.

Step 4 – The Connections Tab

Go back to the top of the window and select the Connections tab across the top.

Towards the bottom of this window you will and a button marked LAN Settings. Click on this button and a new window will open.

Everything on this page should be unchecked. If Automatically detect settings is checked then uncheck the option by left clicking on the box to the left of the option. All items should now be unchecked.

If the check box in the Proxy Server area is checked you may want to consider contacting your Office Administrator before changing anything in this section. Your computer may need these settings in order to connect to the Internet.

Step 5 – The Advanced Tab

Go back to the top of the window and select the Advanced tab across the top.

Now use the scroll bar and pull it about half way down the page until you find a heading called HTTP 1.1 Settings. The HTTP 1.1 is just a marker so we are going to ignore what is checked.

Look to see what comes after the HTTP 1.1 settings and find out what the next section is.

You could have one of three different cases.

Case 1 - Java (Sun)
If you have this section you will need to uncheck the box next to Use JRE applet.

Now check to see if the next item is Microsoft VM or Multimedia. If you have Multimedia please go to Case 3 else proceed to Case 2.

Case 2 – Microsoft VM
If you have the Microsoft VM you will need to check Java Console Enabled (Requires Restart). The other two boxes can remain unchecked.

While this does say requires restart it does not mean restart your computer. What they want you to do is to restart Internet Explorer. Since Internet Explorer is not open, there is nothing we need to do.

Case 3 – Multimedia
If Multimedia is the next item on the list under HTTP 1.1 setting then it appears that you do not have Java installed on your computer. We will address that in the next section, for right now lets finish the Internet Properties.

Now that Internet Explorer is configured for use with Paragon MLS you should left click on Apply then on OK. This will close the Internet Properties window.

What we have done is to give Paragon MLS the ability to make use of lower security setting while still protecting your computer when you are on the internet.

Step 6 – Printer Margin Setting

Next, we will set our print margins.

To do this open Internet Explorer as you normally do when accessing Paragon. Once Internet Explorer is open, you will notice there is a menu at the very top. Left click on File then select Page Setup from the drop down menu.

The Page Setup window will open. In the bottom right hand corner of the page you will find the settings for the margins. Set the top, left, and right margins to 0.25. Set the bottom margin to 0.5.

Once that is done select OK and the window will close.

Step 7 – Install Java

To download the Microsoft Virtual Machine (Java) we will first connect to the Internet go to our open Internet Explorer and type the Fidelity Home page address into the Address bar of Internet Explorer. Once that is done press the enter key on your keyboard. The Fidelity Home Page should load.

On the right is a blue menu. Left click on the Support and Resources option. You will see a new menu appear under that option. Now select Program Downloads.

On the web page you will see a section labeled Categories. Select the option called Microsoft Applications.

When you do, the list of options will change. You should now see MS JVM (Java Virtual Machine). Select this option.

When you select this option you will be presented with a list of files, or documents, that can be downloaded. Select Java Virtual Machine Build 3809 by left clicking on the menu option.

When you select this option you should be presented with a File Download – Security Warning dialog box containing three options. Select the Save option.

When you select the save option a new window will appear called Save As. You will notice a list of icons on the left side. Select the Desktop Icon, and then select the Save button located in the lower right hand side of the window.

You are now downloading the file. When the file is finished you may be prompted to run the file. You may do so.

If you are not prompted to run the file close Internet Explorer and locate MSJAVX3809.EXE on your desktop. When you find the file double click on the icon.

The file may also be called MSJAV86.EXE

A new window will appear called Open File – Security Warning. You will find a Button called Run. Left click on the button to begin the install process.

Another window will appear. Select Yes.

This will take you to the License Agreement page. Again select Yes

The install will begin and should take a few moments. When the install is done, a new window will appear advising you that the installation is finished. Select OK to this window.

After selecting OK a window will appear informing you that you must restart your computer. After insuring that all your data has been saved and all other applications have been closed select the YES button.

After your computer finishes rebooting the configuration will be completed. You are now ready to log onto Paragon and begin using the system.
